A Criticism Regarding Snap And The Dependency Concern Essay
Another criticism regarding SNAP is that by providing families or individuals with the means to purchase food, those people are encouraged to depend on the government for life or perhaps it will even create intergenerational dependence. Typically, households who qualify for SNAP utilize it for just 8 to 10 months (ââ¬Å"Use the Media toâ⬠¦Ã¢â¬ ). There are restrictions that limit healthy adults without dependents to only three months of food assistance every three years. Another myth that ties in with the dependency concern is the idea that only lazy people who do not want to work receive food assistance. Pride and Prejudice: A Comedy of Characters In Jane Austen s novel Pride and Prejudice, a subtle layer of comedy exists that is especially noticeable when very different characters are juxtaposed. This method is used to deepen characterization and make clear the intended satire. The distinct differences between characters help to bring out Austenââ¬â¢s subtle satire because the negative qualities of certain characters are more blatant when surrounded by opposing positive qualities in another character. By comparing a fool like Lydia to a wit like Elizabeth, one who feels love like Darcy to one who feels lust like Wickham, and the unfeeling like Mr. and Mrs. Bennet to the feeling like Mr. and Mrs. Gardiner, Jane Austen employs the use of comedy to effect change in her heavily satirical novel. Lydia and Elizabeth, despite their sisterhood, are polar opposites in regards to social intelligence. Elizabeth is reserved in her demeanor and allows her wit to be her most obvious attribute, while Lydia is constantly chasing after men and saying whatever pops into her head without stopping to think if it is appropriate first. Question: Discuss about the Sustainable Education and Perspectives. Answer: Introduction: First of all I would like to throw some light on the definition of environment sustainability. Next I will share two memories that changed my perception about the environment and why sustainability should be incorporated in everyday life to make the world a better place to live. Environmental Sustainability can be defined as to meet the resources and the services for fulling the needs of the present and future generations without compromising the ecosystems health (Morelli, 2013). When I was in school there was a subject known as Environmental Science where my teacher used to teach us the basics of the environment like afforestation, deforestation, keeping the environment clean, utilization of the natural resources, etc. One positive memory that I would like to recollect is planting of saplings in ones own home and note the date and the year. I was inspired by my teacher. As one will grow into an adult the tree will simultaneously grow where one can notice the beauty of the nature. The sapling will eventually grow into a big tree. It will provide shade, emit sweet fragrance, birds will rest on the branches and they will chirp, protect from scorching heat and fruits will be there for eating. As one will grow into an adult one will cherish the memories. This is a very simple way of protecting the mother earth to curb pollution (Chawla, 2014). The second memory is a not so positive one is dumping of wastes into the water bodies. As water is a lifeline to every human being it should be conserved and nourished. My parents taught me not to pee on the side of the water bodies, not to litter ponds with plastics which are hazardous in nature. My parents are environment conscious citizens. They taught me to respect and preserve nature. This learning from my parents helped me to share with my friends, teachers and my work colleagues as I grow up so that everyone will be a responsible citizen and the future generations can lead a healthy life without degrading the environment (Whiteford et al., 2016). The above mentioned incidents have changed my attitude towards environmental sustainability in a different way and have taken my thoughts into a newer level. In todays fast paced world every individual is busy in making more money to have more materialistic gains but at the same time they need to remind themselves that protect their nature where they are living is also ones responsibility. Over the years I have made an emotional connection with the nature by planting trees, participating in various wildlife conservation programs, protection of natural heritage programs, taking part in debates, seminars by telling the importance of environmental sustainability so that every person can take responsibility. Having involved with various green activists, environment experts, etc, I have become more knowledgeable and aware for protecting the environment (Dhakal, 2014). Every day I meet with people to discuss various ideas for protecting the nature. Several ideas like water conservation, improving the air quality, reducing the human and industrial waste, harnessing the renewable resources like wind energy, hydro energy, solar energy, biomass, etc are discussed (Tranter Lester, 2015). With the help of technology how farmers can be helpful for plantation of crops by using organic farming, less water, etc are also discussed. Every other day I get many information of creating world records for planting 1 lakh trees or any NGO digging some lands to conserve water. Governments are providing LED bulbs at a subsidized rate so that electricity is less consumed. Personally in the last seven years I have planted 300 trees and I have taken a note of that. I raise my voice by participating in news channels by telling about the importance of news channels and what are the ways to curb pollution (Vakiloroaya et al., 2014). My profession is teaching. As a teacher I always stressed on positive values which will be a blessing to the society and also respect the nature. From my above experiences, I teach my kids to nourish their bodies as well as take care of the motherland. I teach them to switch off the lights when not in use, connect with nature by getting involved in gardening, throw the waste materials in the dumping areas only, eat fresh and organic foods, consume less meat ,etc. These teachings are also imparted in my school students also. I feel empowered and blessed when they understand the values of protecting the nature. I also conduct classes for parents to make the place an environmental sustainable. Drawing competitions, quizzes and debates are organized into our school where students are empowered so that in the future they can become a responsible citizen (Yavetz et al., 2014). As a teacher I took my students in various excursions and seminars to gain more knowledge for the protection of the environment. There should be an emotional attachment with the nature where everyone should take sensible steps to protect the nature. I have personally invested in water harvesting roof where in the rainy season the water can be conserved and purified. I have also motivated some of my colleagues to do the same (Peterson, 2016). In this digital age there is an urgency to become literate in environmental education. We cant deny the fact that unless we dont take corrective measures to stop polluting the environment the dooms day is not very far away from us. We should do it for ourselves and future generations. Its the duty of the parents, teachers, sensible people to teach the kids and other people for conserving the nature. Everyone keeps their house clean. It gives a sense of satisfaction. But as we step outside the home we observe trees are cut down illegally, various species are being killed by the poachers, garbage littering here and there. Everyone should lend a helping hand and come together to make their society clean. I want to conclude that protecting the environment should be made a priority in everyones lives. As a teacher I am doing my bit by imparting knowledge for protecting the nature. As everyone feels peaceful when staying at ones home in the same way the people should take some steps to clean the environment so that when they will go out of the home they will feel serene and tranquil.
